Primary Writing Project

     KEDC’s Primary Writing Project is designed for teachers in Grades K-3.  Through age-appropriate strategies, all students can become proficient writers and learn to enjoy writing.  Teachers have also attributed better reading comprehension to the teaching of these writing lessons.  Schools can successfully build the foundation for 4th and 5th grade writing in primary.

 Components

  • Detailed lesson plans for teaching writing forms required for the portfolio and on-demand assessment
  • 7 days of workshops
  • Opportunity to participate in a focused professional learning community
  • Consultant site visit to each participating school
  • 4 days of follow-up training during the second year of the project
